We stopped here for lunch and were highly impressed by the meal and service. This rustic chic restaurant incorporates the brick and steel charm into a warm, welcoming restaurant. They have their own parking lot for guests and a public garage is across the street just in case. While it is a restaurant, it's also a brewery and they have their own separate menu for their concoctions. Although there's no designated gluten-free menu, our server, Kiona (I apologize if I'm spelling your name incorrectly) was able to assist pointing out options. When I informed her of my other dietary restrictions, she was able to alert the kitchen so they made a special pan-seared salmon with greens. It was extremely kind of them and the level of thoroughness to make sure I could eat there was outstanding. My husband ordered the Cowboy burger and was blown away from the first bite. Before leaving, we took a look at their to-go cooler of beer and grabbed a bottle and a small souvenir. I highly recommend having a bite and a drink at this restaurant and brewery. If we're in the area again, we would absolutely stop by again.
Overview
Mill House Brewing Company sits right along the scenic waterfront at 289 Mill St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, United States, and itβs one of those spots that instantly feels like home the moment you walk in. The warm, rustic interior, with its exposed brick and wooden beams, gives off a cozy vibe thatβs perfect for everything from casual lunches to lively evening gatherings. On my first visit, I was immediately drawn to the open brewing area where the staff were busy crafting beers, giving the place a sense of authenticity thatβs hard to find elsewhere.
The menu at Mill House Brewing Company is a mix of hearty comfort foods and creative seasonal specials. The burgers here are a standout-juicy, perfectly seasoned, and always paired with fresh, crispy fries. For seafood lovers, their locally sourced fish dishes never disappoint, reflecting both freshness and careful preparation. One particular evening, I tried the pan-seared salmon with a side of roasted vegetables, and the balance of flavors was impressive. They clearly pay attention to ingredient quality and presentation, which makes every dish feel like it was thoughtfully prepared.
Drinks at Mill House Brewing Company are equally memorable. Their house-brewed beers showcase a range of styles from crisp lagers to hoppy IPAs. I remember attending a small tasting event they hosted last summer, where they walked us through the brewing process step by step. Understanding the fermentation, selection of hops, and the subtle art of balancing flavors gave me a newfound appreciation for craft beer. According to the Brewers Association, small craft breweries like this one have seen significant growth over the last decade, highlighting the rising demand for quality, locally made beverages.
One of the best aspects of this location is the community-focused atmosphere. Itβs not just a restaurant; itβs a gathering space. Families, friends, and even solo diners can find a comfortable spot to enjoy their meal. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, often recommending dishes or beers based on your tastes. On a busy Friday night, I noticed a couple celebrating their anniversary being surprised with a special dessert, which speaks volumes about the care and attention the team provides.
Accessibility is another plus. Being located in downtown Poughkeepsie makes it convenient for both locals and visitors exploring the Hudson Valley. Parking is straightforward, and the spacious layout accommodates different group sizes without feeling cramped. Reviews on multiple platforms highlight this aspect, often praising the combination of good food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere.
The craftsmanship behind the beers and the thoughtfully curated menu demonstrate a clear expertise in both brewing and culinary execution. They occasionally collaborate with local farmers and artisanal producers, which further reinforces the quality of ingredients and supports regional businesses. Experts in the craft brewing field, like those at the Brewers Association, emphasize the importance of transparency in sourcing and process, and Mill House Brewing Company exemplifies this principle.
Whether youβre stopping by for a casual lunch, planning a weekend dinner, or joining one of their tasting events, the experience here feels authentic and engaging. Each visit offers the chance to explore new flavors, enjoy a relaxed setting, and witness firsthand the dedication that goes into each beer and dish.

I dine out a lot of places often in many cities. Mill House Brewing was fine. There are just so many choices out there that Iβm not sure Iβll be running back anytime soon. Iβve been there in the past & have sat at or in the bar area which would have earned 5 stars. The difference may have been that it was a holiday week? The food was just ok this trip. someone told us they have the best burger. This one wasnβt anything to brag about and the cook temp was off. The salad was really good though. The server we had back in July was awkward and made really weird jokes. The booth seating was a little weird too. Itβs like they tried to maximize earning and fit one too many booths in the space they had. It was a bit uncomfortable. The drinks were the best part of our dinner dining experience there that night.
I got the Nashville hot chicken salad: feta cheese, pickles, and blue cheese dressing. It might not sound like much, but it was incredibly good. Washed it down with a Mexican lager at the bar. The bartenders were super nice and the vibe was solid. Great place. If I lived here, Iβd definitely be a regular.
We always have a great time when we go to MHBC! Our go to is to get a few appetizers and small beers from their abundant menu, and everything is usually stellar. Weβve had the pierogi, pretzel bites, gyro sliders, pickle chips, and for mains, the Nashville Hot Chicken Salad (a stunner!!!) and the chicken sandwich (also tasty, but boy does that biscuit crumble). The beer is good, too, Iβd recommend the raspberry or blueberry blessing (or the cucumber if youβre up for something refreshing and unique). Prices are a little high and service can be slow, but overall a quality restaurant that we will be back to soon.
Came here for my brotherβs family weekend at Marist and we absolutely loved it. I got the French dip sandwich it was great, other orders in our group were the honey butter chicken biscuit sandwich and Nashville hot chicken salad. We all loved our meals so much and the fries were great. Get the French dip sandwich, it came on and homemade French sub roll, awesome stuff. Finished the meal with a snickerdoodle white chocolate cookie skillet which was great too. Quality and quick service on a busy night too. Definitely give this place a try!
Incredible for a wedding rehearsal dinner!! I was shopping around at different restaurants in the area for where to hold our rehearsal - and nothing beat Mill House deal/value. What they offered was perfect, and we paid for an extra hour on top of our reserved room to hold βWelcome Drinksβ at the spot. It worked out perfectly! And the food is obviously amazing. We even had a pizza display added on for the guests at the Welcome Drinks and it was super fairly priced. Their bartenders, hostess, and servers that ran our event were incredible too! Thank you!
I always hope to find that one restaurant on vacation that I will think of for a long time to come. This was it! Really beautiful inside. Nice and cool during the heat wave. Sat at the bar. Great drinks and beers. Bartenders were fabulous and know the menu! Trust their recommendations. Food was fast and incredibly delicious.
